Adlabs joins hands with Rave Entertainment

Adlabs Films Ltd., of the Reliance Anil Ambani Group and the leading entertainment conglomerate in the country, yesterday announced the commencement of the shooting of its first Tamil film. This project is a co-production with veteran and well-respected film production house Sujatha Cine Arts.

The film Kireedam will feature leading actor Ajith Kumar in a leading role, Trisha as the female lead and other members include Raj Kiran and Vivek. Upcoming talent Vijay Anand will direct the movie. Shooting has commenced and is targeting a release date of May 2007.

Already a leading player in the Hindi film industry through its film processing, distribution, production and exhibition businesses, this marks Adlabs Films first Tamil production.

According to Mr. Manmohan Shetty, Chairman and Managing Director Adlabs Films, The Tamil film industry is one of the most vibrant in India and we have long been aware of its potential. We see Kireedam, with the involvement of well known production companies such as Sujatha Cine Arts, as the ideal vehicle for our entry into the industry.

Sujatha Cine Arts was established by veteran actor and film producer K. Balaje who has produced nearly 40 films with leading actors like Shivaji Ganesan, Rajinikanth and Kamala Hasan. Films of considerable success rate have been produced under this banner between 1966 and 1989 including blockbusters that have created collection records like Savaal, Sattam, Vidhi, Bandham, Engirundho Vandhaal and Vaazhvey Maayam, to name a few. The production house is being revived after 17 years by Suresh Balaje, son of K Balaje, with this film.
