His fervent updates on the popular networking site Facebook was gesture enough to indicate how much the Leh disaster made him feel. Aamir Khan, who shot the last few portions of his blockbuster 3 Idiots in an existing school in Leh, was stricken with grief and worry after the Leh cloud burst. On August 9th, he updated, "Just spoke to a journo friend who informed me that there were no casualties in the school in Leh, which is a big relief. By tom I should be able to make contact with Principal. Fingers crossed." Once again on August 10th he updated, "Just spoke with Mr. Prasad, the Principal at the school in Leh. Big relief after speaking with him. Am trying to go there."
Sure enough Aamir along with Hindustan Construction Company reached Leh to reconstruct the Druk White Lotus School located in Shey, 15 kms on the Leh Manali highway. The school was almost in a dilapidated state after the mudslide.
HCC India has deployed heavy equipment and manpower of some 75 people along with several engineers to put Druk White Lotus School back together. It's extremely admirable the way Aamir feels duty bound towards the school and its children and is taking personal interest to do his bit.
