Remember the Preeti Jain rape case that created quite a buzz in July 2004 where a small time model, Preeti Jain had accused director Madhur Bhandarkar of repeatedly having sex with her from 1999 to 2004? Now, the entire Preeti Jain - Madhur Bhandarkar episode will be resurrected through a Hindi film. Director Shivram Yadav is making a film based on the entire episode. The film titled Madhubala is about an aspiring actress who idolizes Madhubala and turns a big actress but only after traversing the casting couch route. Kanishka plays the female lead of the film while Sameer Dharmadhikari plays a film director whose character in the film is based on Madhur Bhandarkar. (Incidentally Bhandarkar had introduced Sameer in his film Satta). Meanwhile the makers have not taken permission or talked about their story idea to either Bhandarkar or Jain. However Bhandarkar has no issues with the subject and states that it's a filmmaker's creative right to make a film on any subject he likes. But Preeti Jain is not happy with the theme of the film and adds that she might take legal action.
