The latest news making the rounds is the foray of 20th Century Fox into production of Hindi films, in conjunction with Ramgopal Varma. The news has come as a surprise because only a few months ago, Fox officials had denied that there were plans to get into production. "That's because we had not got the clearance from our main office in L.A. But all that has been sorted out now. Besides, Ramgopal Varma is a name to reckon with, so we had no problems getting an endorsement," states a 20th Century Fox official. In fact, Fox officials are already busy organising the shooting of their first film, EK HASEENA THI, directed by Varma and starring Saif Ali Khan and Urmila Matondkar, which will go on the floors on July 27. "We'll be involved in the film, right from its production to its final release. We also have a few other projects lined up with Ramgopal Varma," he reveals, adding that the partnership will not be restricted to Ramgopal Varma alone. "We are open to joint ventures with other makers as well, but the possibility of having a long-term arrangement with Ramgopal Varma cannot be ruled out."
