Well finally after Chak De India Bollywood gets the formula perfect, a movie that’s reminiscent to Dil Chahta Hai, a movie that has it all to win the hearts of its Audience. With Rock on Director Abhishek Kapoor and producer Farhan Akhtar bring alive a new breed of stirring and fabulous celluloid concept to Bollywood. Tribute to all young aspiring rock bands across the country, the movie takes you through an emotional and an exciting journey of a life of four young talented lads and their dream Band called the MAGIK. But wait, you don’t need to be a Rock fanatic to enjoy the movie, if you believe in friendship, if you believe in Dreams, your aspirations you’ll just fall in love with Magik, and it will rock you for every penny you paid. It’s a movie that instills a message to everyone to believe in your dreams, to trust your passion, to live your life the way you dreamt it to be.

Rock on is a story of 4 aspiring and vibrant young talents Aditya Shroff (Farhan Akhtar), Joe Mascarenhas (Arjun Rampal), Kedar Zaveri (Purab Kohli) and Rob Nancy (Luke Kenny) following their dream, the MAGIK, which is the name of their successful Band. The movie opens with Magik performing Live on stage post which the movie fast forwards by 10 years. Now the band doesn’t exist anymore due to personal difference that arouse between the Band members. Adi, the lead Vocalist of the band is a successful investment banker married to Sakshi (Prachi Desai). Though married their relationship would be troubled coz Adi devotes most of his time on business to forget the bitter memories of his band and its failure. Rob, who was once on Magik’s keyboard, now composes music to few commercials. Kedar, the drummer, is supporting his dad’s diamond business. Joe, the lead guitarist is now in troubled financial conditions without a job. Everyone lives a life, but none live their dream, the Magik. Prachi, who realizes about her Husband’s band while she accidentally discovers some old photographs of Adi with his Band mates decides to bring alive the band and see her Husband live his dream once again. From there starts a journey of a dream, a friendship, and a life called the Magik, and it’s one last performance that makes its protagonist live their Dream for real. It’s a journey that at times would moist your eyes, would put a curve on your face, would make you sing, above all it would inspire you with a message that you would remember much after you leave the hall.

Apart from it’s commendable story line which has earned Rock on much appreciations from critics all over the world, it also has some fantastic and soothing tracks of 70’s and 80’s Rock Genre. Farhan Akhtar, who has sung six of its tracks, has done a terrific job. And all four lead actors have given an absolute laudable performance; truly their acting in Rock On deserves an ovation from everyone. Its movies like Rock On that still makes movie buffs have a trust on Bollywood flicks. Otherwise in days when Bollywood is producing absolute gibberish movies like Singh is Kinng and Saawariya, it’s hard to have any expectation out of a Bollywood movie. Rock On truly would be a movie that would surpass all your expectation and you would cherish this movie as one of the finest Bollywood movie you watched in recent past.
