I was bored with watching repetitive Akshay Kumar for a long time preaching me nationalism, social issues or mindless comedies like Housefull. Finally, he comes with something Unique which has genuine entertainment.
Good Newwz is a story of a couple, Varun and Deepti Batra(Akshay/ Kareena) who has been trying to have a baby for a while but without success. They are referred to Dr Joshi(Adil Hussain) who is an expert of an IVF treatment. That's where you are introduced another couple with a similar surname Honey and Monica Batra(Daljit/Kiara) which is genuinely funny and mannerless according to Varun-Deepti. The reputed surgery has made a mistake and mixed the sperms. What happens after that is a pure laughter and fun ride.
The story is a regular comedy of errors presented with genuinely funny dialogues and one-liners. Mind you there is no effort to put down on doctors community here. It's out an out fun ride right from word go till the climax. Keeping the length apt at 2 hours and 10 minutes with those timely doses of emotions to keep your eyes moisturised the makers have made sure that less is more.
Surprisingly songs don't become an obstacle barring one of Daljit and Kiara and all of them sound good to ears. The lead characters slip into the characters seamlessly. Akshay Kareena show why they are in the industry for a long time. Daljit and Kiara have less footage comparatively but leave the impact with the limited screen time. Adil Hussain and Tisca Chopra fit in just perfect. The dialogues may make uncomfortable to some families if you are watching with teenage kids but nothing vulgar to not take them with you.
I went with my expectations keeping low but they were fulfilled to the fullest. I am sure this will go down as one of the classic comedies in Bollywood files. Strongly recommended for making your holidays more entertaining.
