Dr. Dwarkanath S. Kotnis (Rajaram Vankudre Shantaram) returns to his home in Sholapur where his father, S. Kotnis (Keshavrao Date), has made arrangements to run a medical clinic, and his mother (Pratima Devi) had hoped he would marry and settle down. He disappoints them both when he informs them that he has decided to accompany a humanitarian team to war-torn China which has been attacked by Japan. He bids them farewell and together with doctors Atal (Hudlikar), Cholkar (Salvi), Basu (Ulhas) and Mukherjee (Jankidas), sets out via ship to Chungking in China via Ceylon and Singapore. Upon arrival, the team is assisted by a young male, Aa Chin (Jayashree), and subsequently Dwarkanath gets word that his father has passed away. The rest of them make arrangements for him to return home, but he does not do so. The group then travels to snow-covered Yunan where Cholkar, Atal and Mukherjee fall ill and are sent back to India. Basu and he part company after being dispatched to two separate locations. Upon arrival at his new location, he discovers that Aa Chin is actually is male named Ching Lan, both fall in love and get married. Then an epidemic breaks out, he infects himself, finds a cure, and becomes a local hero, while Ching gives birth to a son (Rajshree). Shortly thereafter he will not only experience epileptic fits but also end up in Japanese custody. Author: rAjOo (gunwanti@hotmail.com)
