Daadi Ki Shaadi Movie Review Synopsis:
DAADI KI SHAADI is the story of a grandmother causing chaos. Delhi-based Tony Kalra (Kapil Sharma) is unable to find a match for marriage. This is when he comes across the profile of Kanika Ahuja aka Kanu (Sadia Khateeb). Tony has been in love with her since college days and agrees to marry her. Kanu doesn't want to marry but is forced by her family. On the day of engagement, Kanu's brother Bittu (Vidhaan Sanjay Sharma) reads aloud a post on social media of her grandmother, Vimla Ahuja (Neetu Kapoor), wherein she announces that she's getting married again. Tony's father (Yograj Singh) breaks off the engagement and also the marriage over this development. Kanu, her father Jeevan (Deepak Dutta), mother Romal (Tejaswini Kolhapure), Bittu, Jeevan's brother Naag (Jitender Hooda), his wife Baby (Aditi Mittal) and their son Bobby (Ishan Chadha) head to Shimla, where Daadi stays, to understand the matter and persuade Daadi to change her mind. Tony also tags along with them; after all, he also wants to stop her from marrying so that he can get hitched with Kanu. Once they reach Shimla, the old wounds of the family resurface. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
Daadi Ki Shaadi Movie Story Review:
Ashish R Mohan's story is weak at the very foundation level. Ashish R Mohan, Bunty Rathore and Saahil S Sharma's screenplay has its share of entertaining scenes. But at the same time, the loopholes are aplenty and negate the impact of a few positives. Bunty Rathore's dialogues are decent.
Ashish R Mohan's direction fails to repair the faults in the script. He tries his best to pepper the narrative with humour and emotions. He has also mounted the film on a fine scale and shot it magnificently. The basic plot gives a déjà vu of films like BAWARCHI [1972], COOLIE NO 1 [1995], BAGHBAN [2003], CHUPKE CHUPKE [1975] etc.
However, the aforementioned films were backed by solid scripts, which this film doesn’t have. At the very beginning, we see Kanu getting engaged and for some reason, her chacha’s family and Daadi are missing. One assumes that they are not on talking terms, but that’s not the case at all. Also, Jeevan cares about his social standing. Hence, he should have called his mother at least to save face in front of the guests. In short, the film falls like a pack of cards in the first 15 minutes itself. Moreover, Daadi’s truth about the marriage is downright silly and is also revealed to the viewers immediately. Ideally, it should have been unveiled at the intermission point. The interval block features Tony discovering the truth, but it makes no impact as viewers already know what has happened. The romantic track is the weakest part of the film. Also, Daadi’s plan goes quite overboard after a point. The climax, meanwhile, leads to unintentional humour.

Daadi Ki Shaadi Movie Review Performances:
Kapil Sharma puts up a sincere act, but it’s nowhere close to his performance in the recently released KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON 2 [2025] or his stint on his TV shows. Neetu Kapoor is riveting and proves she's still one of the finest actors around. But she's let down by a weak script. Sadia Khateeb is decent; however, she doesn't have much to do in the film after a point. R Sarath Kumar (Col Theeran Devarajan) is fine. Riddhima Kapoor Sahni (Sunaina) has a late entry but makes her presence felt. Deepak Dutta, Jitender Hooda, Tejaswini Kolhapure and Aditi Mittal are okay and go overboard at times. Yograj Singh is fair. Nischay Ralhan (Gaggu) seemed like he would have a crucial part; however, after one scene, he's forgotten, wondering why he was even there in the first place. Anukreethy Vas (Teena) has a better role and is decent. Nikhat Khan Hegde is lovely, but naming her character Shakti Kapoor will bewilder and amuse viewers. Flora Jacob (Malhotra Aunty) and Parveen Kaour (Chauhan Aunty) are okay. Mohammad Ali (Capt Aadi Vishnu Reddy) is funny.
Daadi Ki Shaadi movie music and other technical aspects:
None of the songs leave a mark. Mark Nutkins and Suresh Beesaveni's cinematography is satisfactory and breathtaking. Narendra Rahurikar's production design and Komal Shahani's costumes are rich. VFX could have been better, while Protim Khaound's editing could have been sharper.
Daadi Ki Shaadi Movie Review Conclusion:
On the whole, DAADI KI SHAADI suffers from a flimsy script, ineffective humour and an emotional core that fails to connect. At the box office, its weak word of mouth and limited appeal will make it a tough ride.
