Vijay's selfie with fans is most retweeted tweet of 2020; two South films become most tweeted movie hashtags
A selfie by Tamil superstar Vijay with his fans at an open ground has become the most retweeted tweet of 2020. At present the tweet has over 1,60,000 retweets and over 3,80,000 likes. The actor had shared a selfie in February from the sets of his upcoming film Masters in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu. It was posted to thank all his fans.
With 3 millions followers, it speaks volumes of Vijay's popularity on the micro-blogging site. Furthermore, the popularity of the Tweet is reflective of the strong connection that Vijay shares with his fans on Twitter.
In fact, many Tamil actors are hugely popular on the service and enjoy a great fan base. Nothing is more appreciated by fans than an actor who loves and celebrates his fandom and Vijay (@actorvijay) did just that with this Tweet.
Apart from this, two south films made it to the top three most used hashtags of the year- Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru and Mahesh Babu starrer Sarileru Neekevvaru. Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film Dil Bechara also made to the list.
Suriya And Aparna Balamurali starre Tamil film Soorarai Pottru was one of the most anticipated film of the year. While fans were waiting to see the film in the theatres, owing to the pandemic the makers were forced to release the film on OTT. The film came out a year after the team wrapped up the shoot and its release was welcomed with overwhelming support.
On the other hand, Mahesh Babu and Rashmika Mandanna's Sarileru Neekevvaru was released in cinemas earlier this year, well before the pandemic took over the country. In the film, Mahesh Babu played the role of an army officer and the film was much appreciated by the audience.
