SS Rajamouli’s last film RRR turned out to be a global blockbuster and it also won the Oscar for the Best Song for the dance track ‘Naatu Naatu.’ Starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, the movie was set on the backdrop of India’s independence from the British and it told the fictitious story of two Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The filmmaker’s next is reportedly another large scale film, this time inspired from the life of Lord Hanuman with superstar Mahesh Babu playing the central character.

But apart from directing this movie, it seems Rajamaouli will also be producing another larger-than-life saga. As per a report in the online publication Deadline, the filmmaker will be backing a film based on the birth and the rise of Indian cinema. The report also said that the film will be a “magnum opus telling” and will be told “on a huge scale and canvas.”

More than a decade back, a Marathi film titled Harishchandrachi Factory was made on the birth of cinema in India through the efforts of Dhundiraj Govind Phalke aka Dadasaheb Phalke. The film saw Nandu Madhav play Phalke, who later came to be known as the Father of Indian Cinema.

However, there has been no information whether Rajamouli’s film will feature the character of Phalke. The details regarding the director and the cast are also not disclosed yet.
