Shruti Haasan slams reports claiming she suffers from mental health issues

Shruti Haasan’s Telugu movie Waltair Veerayya hit the theatres today. The actress was unable to attend the film’s trailer launch earlier this week. At that time, she had clarified that she couldn’t attend because she was unwell. However, some news reports claimed that her reason for the absence from the event was her mental health issues.

Now, Shruti has slammed this news item as baseless and false. Taking to her Instagram story, she wrote, “Ok, so here’s the thing. Misinformation like this and the over dramatisation and flippant handling of such subjects is what makes people afraid to talk about mental health. Guess what? It doesn’t work. I will always be a mental health advocate. I will always promote taking care of myself in all aspects.”

 

Shruti also revealed the actual reason again for not being able to attend the event. “Oh, and I have a viral fever,” she said. “So nice try. Get over yourselves. And while you are at it, please talk to a therapist. No really. Please do.”

 

 

 

Coming back to the film, Waltair Veerayya stars Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja together and they are the film’s biggest attraction. Catherine Tresa and Bobby Simha are also a part of the cast.
