Salman Khan jokes ‘casting couch does exist’ when asked about starring in Chiranjeevi-led GodFather
GodFather starring Chiranjeevi and Salman Khan is gearing up for its grand release in Telugu and Hindi on the 5th of this month on Dussehra. Today, the makers released the Hindi trailer of the movie grandly in presence of Chiranjeevi, Salman Khan, Satya Dev and a few others in Mumbai. At the trailer launch, Salman Khan talked about his casting in the film and joked about ‘casting couch’.
When asked about how he was cast for the film, Salman Khan said at the press conference, “Casting couch does exist. We were doing a commercial together of Thumps Up in Thailand. We both flew down together. The only person apart from me who slept on my couch is Chiru garu (laughs). We landed at about 1.30 – 2.00 am and then we sat and spoke and he had to catch a flight, I told him to go to the bedroom and sleep and he said ‘I will sleep on the couch’. Now, how to say I sleep on the couch? So, only one person apart from me who slept on my couch is Chiru garu… this is a casting couch and because of this, I was cast in this film. He told me there is a small role in this film, I told him, if you make me stand behind you, it is fine. He said ‘I will give you a noble role’. And that’s what he did.”
Chiranjeevi will be seen as Brahma as well as GodFather. Salman plays a henchman in the movie. Nayanthara and Satya Dev too have pivotal roles. Nirav Shah is the cinematographer; S Thaman does the background score. The production design of Konidela Production Company and Super Good Films is first class.
Directed by Mohan Raja, the film arrives in theatres on October 5, 2022.
