Rockstar DSP returns to his roots ahead of acting debut Yellamma, participates in Vedurapaka’s Yellamma Jathara

Music composer Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as Rockstar DSP, is gearing up for a major new chapter in his career with his acting debut in Yellamma. Ahead of beginning the journey as an actor, DSP made an emotional visit to his hometown Vedurapaka in Andhra Pradesh, where he participated in the vibrant Yellamma Jathara and paid tribute to his late father and Goddess Yellamma.

The composer-turned-actor shared glimpses from his visit through a heartfelt video on social media, giving fans a closer look at the traditions and folk culture that shaped his childhood and deeply influenced his decision to say yes to Yellamma.

 

Held at the Vijaya Durga Peetham in Vedurapaka, the Yellamma Jathara is a traditional local festival celebrated with folk performances, devotional rituals, music, and dance. DSP did not attend the event merely as a celebrity guest. Instead, he actively participated in the celebrations, interacting with locals, playing drums, and dancing alongside villagers during the festivities.

In another emotional note shared through his Instagram story, the composer explained how deeply the festival and folk traditions are connected to his artistic identity. “The Amazing Traditions & Culture that filled the PASSION of FOLK ARTS in Me since Childhood.. The Celebrations of 'AMMORU JAATHARA' in my Dad's Village VEDURUPAKA.. The reason why I said YES to YELLAMMA,” he wrote.

 

The visit also served as a tribute to his late father, who reportedly brought him to Vedurapaka during childhood to help him stay connected to his roots and cultural heritage. For DSP, the homecoming appeared to be more than a personal journey. The first glimpse of Yellamma recently generated strong buzz online, with audiences expressing curiosity about DSP stepping into acting after decades of success as one of India’s leading music composers. The film is directed by Venu Yeldandi, whose acclaimed film Balagam received praise for its emotionally rooted storytelling and authentic representation of rural Telugu culture.

 

Presented by Sri Venkateswara Creations under the leadership of producer Dil Raju, Yellamma is already being viewed as one of the most anticipated Telugu projects in development.
