Kamal Haasan expresses his concerns as Chennai battles Cyclone Michaung

As the city of Chennai continues to reel under the duress of Cyclone Michaung, actor-politician Kamal Haasan posted on his X handle expressing his concern.  Founder of the Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan took a very sympathetic tone towards the government while addressing the grave situation that has brought the city to its knees.

"No matter how much precaution the government takes, the effects of natural disasters can only be controlled to a certain extent. At this juncture, it is necessary to ensure our safety and work hand in hand with the government machinery to help the situation stabilize," Kamal wrote on X. Kamal Haasan also requested the members of his political outfit, Makkal Needhi Maiam, to assist the people affected by the flooding.

 

 

Apart from Kamal Haasan, many actors have taken to the platform to talk about the ongoing cyclone which is expected to have caused a lot of destruction in the Tamil Nadu capital. In fact, many celebrities turned saviours and helped their citizens in this battle of survival. While superstars like Ajith helped others who were stuck in the cyclone including actor Aamir Khan, a few others like Suriya and Karthi donated a lumpsum to help the victims.

 

For the unversed, Cyclone Michaung unleashed torrential rain upon Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, and Thiruvallur districts. Most places are waterlogged and submerged in rain. Latest reports claim that as many as seventeen people have died in the city. Chennai came to a massive halt with the power supply on a complete shutdown. Incidents of drowning and electrocution is also expected to have been reported in several areas but medical assistance too has been provided.
