Indian 2 Accident: Director S Shankar opens up on the accident; says it would have been better if the crane fell on him

A few days ago, three men died on the sets of Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 after a crane came crashing down during the shoot. The three men were assistant directors on the film and were sitting on the crane when it broke apart and came crashed on the group. Along with them, nine other crew members were injured while they were filming at EVP Film City near Chennai.

Lead actors Kamal Haasan, Kajal Agarwal and director S Shankar were also present on the set and narrowly escaped from getting injured. Now, director S Shankar has spoken up for the first time since the accident. He took to twitter to express his grief. “It is with utmost grief, I’m tweeting. Since the tragic incident, I’ve been in a state of shock & having sleepless nights on the loss of my AD & crew. Having missed the crane by a whisker, I feel it would’ve been better if it was on me. Heartfelt condolences & prayers to the families,” he wrote.

 

 

After the accident, a costume designer who was on the set tweeted that along with her actors Kamal Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal also narrowly escaped from being crushed, as they were seconds away from the spot where the crane crashed.

 

Kamal Haasan also announced Rs. 1 crore compensation for the families of the deceased. He had also said that the director and the cameraman had a narrow escape as they moved from there just about four seconds before the accident.
