First Look of Legacy: R. Madhavan leads a power-packed crime drama about power, family, and survival

Netflix has officially unveiled the first look of its upcoming Tamil original series Legacy, a high-stakes crime drama headlined by R. Madhavan and Nimisha Sajayan. Helmed by Charukesh Sekar, it is produced by Kalyan Shankar under the banner of Stone Bench Pvt Ltd, and features an ensemble cast including Gautham Karthik, Gulshan Devaiah, and Abhishek Banerjee.

The announcement created massive buzz across social media as Netflix shared striking character posters with the intriguing caption, “Samraajiyame pattri yeriginra podhu, Kreedathai aniya thunivadhu yaar.. (When the empire begins to burn, who dares to play the game?)”

 

The series follows Periyavar, the aging patriarch of a powerful crime family, who finds himself racing against time to anoint a successor and safeguard his vast empire from an impending siege. As rivalries rise and loyalties fracture, Legacy explores the emotional and psychological toll of power, family, and the fight to preserve one’s name in a crumbling dynasty.

 

Opening up about the project, creator, writer, and director Charukesh Sekar shared, “Legacy is deeply personal to me, and I’m incredibly grateful to Netflix and Stone Bench for the creative freedom to bring it to life. I’ve always been intrigued by the complexities of human relationships and emotions, and writing it against the backdrop of a gangster world made it even more fascinating. We intend to deliver a big-screen immersive experience to personal devices, and I’m excited for everyone to meet these characters who mean so much to me.”

 

Lead actor R. Madhavan, who plays a pivotal role, expressed his excitement: “Ever so rarely, as an actor, you come across a story that touches and excites you from within, and when that happens, you grab it with all that you have. Legacy is a cleverly written story with great hooks and twists, unlike anything done in the Indian OTT space. It was a pleasure working with Charukesh Sekar and the incredible Stone Bench team. I can’t wait for audiences to see this on Netflix.”

 

 

Marking her Tamil series debut, Nimisha Sajayan added, “I’m so thrilled to announce my first Tamil series, Legacy, is coming to Netflix! It’s an incredible high-octane drama filled with emotions and thrills, and the cast is absolutely brilliant. This is my second project with Stone Bench, and they truly feel like family.”

 

With its powerhouse cast, gritty storyline, and cinematic treatment, Legacy stands out as one of the most anticipated Tamil originals on Netflix — a dark, emotional saga about power, pride, and the price of holding on to both.
