Actor Vijay gets attacked with footwear at the funeral of actor-politician Vijayakanth; fans condemn mob behaviour

Readers would be aware that the Tamil Nadu government had ordered for state honors for Vijayakanth whose contribution in the world of Indian Cinema continues to be immense. Vijay, fondly addressed as Thalapathy Vijay by fans, attended the funeral amid his other work commitments, because of the close bond he shared with the late actor-politician. However, owing to the massive crowd which resulted in chaos, Vijay ended up getting hit by a flying chappal, which has irked not only his fans but also several other social media users.

Vijay looked extremely exhausted and upset with the demise of Vijayakanth, with whom he shared a rather close camaraderie. The actor, who was visibly mourning the demise of the actor, was in for a shock when he was attacked by the mob. Considering that Vijayakanth was one of the most renowned stars in Indian Cinema, a lot of crowd had gathered to pay their last respects. Chaos ensued when Vijay was leaving. After having a last look at Vijayakanth, when Vijay was proceeding towards his car, the camera captured a flying chappal hitting the actor’s head despite the intense security he had around him. This video not only left Vijay fans shocked but many of them found it insulting on social media and several users condemned such kind of aggressive behaviour.

 

 

For the unversed, Thalapathy Vijay’s father Chandrashekhar had revealed that Vijayakanth agreed to do a film titled Sendhoorapandi after the former’s debut film bombed at the box office. Vijay’s father had said in an interview, “When I spoke about his remuneration, he graciously asked me to go ahead with the shoot and added that he'd discuss other aspects later. What Vijayakanth did to Vijay was a huge help. If he had not done it, Vijay wouldn't be here,” he added.
