The Weeknd is all set to debut as an actor opposite Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan in the film he co-wrote and produced. The untitled film is being directed by Trey Edward Shults, who also co-wrote the film.

According to Variety, Shults is also executive producing the feature that is being shot in Los Angeles. The film’s “logline is being kept under wraps.” The film will also be produced by The Weeknd’s producing partner Reza Fahim, who is a co-writer, as well as Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss.

 

Chayse Irvin is attached to lead the cinematography. The Weeknd will be joined by composer and producer OPN for scoring the film. Meanwhile, the ‘Blinding Lights’ crooner will also star in HBO series The Idol.

 

Speaking of Ortega, the actress is currently enjoying the success of her record-breaking Addams Family series, Wednesday from Netflix. She also hosts Saturday Night Live on March 11 and will next star in Scream VI.

 

On the other hand, Keoghan is coming off his Oscar-nominated feature The Banshees of Inisherin, which also earned him a BAFTA win last week. Up next, he stars in Saltburn. Meanwhile, filmmaker Shults is best known for his acclaimed work on Waves and It Comes at Night.
