Turkish actress Hande Erçel says ‘Namaste’ as she attends FICCI Frames in Mumbai; says she wants to work with Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Sidharth Malhotra

Hande Erçel, one of Turkey's biggest female stars, recently made waves as she travelled to India to participate in the FICCI Frames 2024 event. Hosted by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), FICCI Frames is renowned as one of Asia's largest gatherings for the media and entertainment industry. This year's theme, "RRR: Reflections, Realities, and Road Ahead," set the stage for insightful discussions and forward-thinking initiatives.

Hande Erçel's presence at FICCI Frames signifies a significant step towards fostering cultural exchange between Turkey and India. In a special session titled 'From Bollywood to Turkish Drama: Acting across Borders,' Erçel shared the stage with Indian actor Ayushmann Khurrana. The session offered a platform to explore the nuances of acting in both Indian Bollywood films and Turkish dramas, highlighting the commonalities and differences between the two vibrant entertainment industries. For the event, she wore a Miu Miu bandeau top with matching brown trousers and paired it with an oversized suede belt.

 

Speaking at the event, she talked about the pressures on women to be presentable at all times for their projects. “I'm aware of the pressure on women to always look perfect. It's important to stay true to who you're as a person. Young girls look up to their screen idols and want to imitate them. I want to tell them that nobody's perfect. Speaking to PTI ahead of the event, Hande said, “I've been interested in learning about (different) cultures since I was young. I was already interested in this (Indian) culture and I wanted to see India. I told one of my friends that I want to go to India... I like how people follow the culture here... I wanted to wear a traditional saree. But, I don’t have much time here.”

 

Speaking about Hindi movies, she said that Bollywood films PK and 3 Idiots are her favourites. She also likes actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Dev Patel. “Among the directors I like, Sanjay (Leela Bhansali), he was there at Cannes. We don’t have Hindi movies releasing theatrically (in Turkey), so I saw them all online," she added.

 

She also said, "I would like to work with Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, and Sidharth Malhotra. This is the right time for me to be here. A new door is opening for me to do something here.”

 

Hande Erçel garnered acclaim and international recognition for shows such as Ask Laftan Anlamaz, Gunesin Kizlari, and Sen Cal Kapimi. Last year, her Ask Laftan Anlamaz co-star Burak Deniz was in India for FICCI Frames 2023. She most recently reunited with Deniz in thriller drama Bambaska Biri.
