Randeep Hooda joins John Cena for Matchbox; shoot commences in Budapest

Actor Randeep Hooda is set for his next Hollywood venture, as he teams up with celebrated director Sam Hargrave for an adrenaline-pumping action film, Matchbox, co-starring John Cena. Sam, who is a celebrated filmmaker known for directing Extraction 1 and 2, is also the genius behind stunts and action in films including Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War, Thor Ragnarok, Suicide Squad, amongst many others.

While the action entertainer has already commenced its filming in Budapest, it will now have Randeep join the rest of the cast and production team. This marks Randeep Hooda’s second collaboration with Sam Hargrave after Extraction (2020), where he made his international debut in the role of Saju. Confirming details, Randeep Hooda shared a statement expressing his happiness over this reunion with Hargrave and said, "Excited to be working with Sam again. We had a great time on our first collaboration with Extraction. Sam is a master of high-octane storytelling and action. Glad to be joining the team in Budapest”.

 

Coming to Matchbox, it is being produced by Mattel films, Skydance films and is an Apple Original. Based on a screenplay by David Coggeshall and Jonathan Tropper, the film is inspired by Mattel’s iconic real-world die-cast toy vehicle line of the same name. Apart from Randeep and John Cena, the movie will also feature Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Arturo Castro, and Teyonah Parris in key roles.

 

Meanwhile, speaking of Hooda’s work commitments, he has currently been shooting for Jaat which is being directed by Gopichand Malineni co-starring with Sunny Deol and is produced by the makers of Pushpa 2, Mythri Movie Makers and People Media Factory. The film is slated to release on April 10 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. Along with that, he is also set to soon start shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s next.
