We Were Liars teaser out! Prime Video promises a tale of twisted mystery based on the E. Lockhart adaptation

Prime Video has officially unveiled the teaser trailer for We Were Liars, the much-anticipated series adaptation of E. Lockhart’s best-selling novel. The mystery thriller will debut globally on June 18, 2025, with all eight episodes dropping exclusively on the streaming platform in over 240 countries and territories.

Set against the backdrop of a seemingly idyllic private island in New England, We Were Liars follows the emotionally charged story of Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her elite inner circle, affectionately known as the “Liars.” The Sinclairs are the epitome of American aristocracy — wealthy, glamorous, and fiercely private. But beneath the surface of their picture-perfect lives lies a dark and tragic mystery. When Cadence returns to the island after a harrowing accident that leaves her with fragmented memories, she begins to uncover long-buried secrets and disturbing truths about her family and her closest friends.

 

The cast is led by Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence, with Shubham Maheshwari playing Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis. Julie Plec of The Vampire Diaries, Legacies fame and Carina Adly MacKenzie of Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals fame serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Joining them as executive producers are Emily Cummins (The Endgame), Brett Matthews (Legacies), Pascal Verschooris (The Vampire Diaries), and author E. Lockhart. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amazon MGM Studios.

 

With an eerie new teaser that hints at secrets, betrayals, and emotional revelations, We Were Liars promises to be a gripping coming-of-age mystery layered with psychological drama. Fans of the novel and new viewers alike can expect a haunting and visually captivating adaptation when the series premieres this June.
