Lady Gaga sued by dog kidnapper for not paying her $500,000 reward

Oscar-winning singer Lady Gaga is being sued by a woman, a dog kidnapper who was one of the five people arrested in connection to the kidnapping of the singer’s dogs. The woman is suing the global artist claiming that she committed a breach of contract for not paying the reward. As shared by Entertainment Weekly, in February 2021, Lady Gaga offered a $500,000 reward to anyone that safely returned her two dogs, Koji and Gustav. Now, the woman who returned the dogs is coming with a new lawsuit.

Jennifer McBride, one of five people arrested in dognapping suspicion, filed a lawsuit against Lady Gaga for not paying her the said reward that was promised after she returned the dogs to the police department, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court documents.

 

In the filing, the woman’s attorney alleged that Gaga committed a breach of contract, fraud by false promise, and fraud by misrepresentation by including the words "no questions asked" in her offer and then not paying McBride the reward, per the outlet.

 

As per the lawsuit, Gaga's reward offer was made "with the intent to defraud and induce members of the public, such as Plaintiff, to rely upon it and to act upon said promise by locating and delivering Lady Gaga's bulldogs to Defendants," according to the outlet.

 

McBride was one of five arrested in the crime in April 2021after an LAPD news release a statement that she along with fellow accomplice Harold White were both "determined to be accessories after the initial crime." McBride was then charged with one count of being an accessory after the fact and another for receiving stolen property, according to NBC Palm Springs.

 

After James Jackson, who shot dog walker Ryan Fischer, pleaded no contest to attempted murder with severe injuries, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison in December. Meanwhile, McBride also pleaded no contest and was sentenced to two years probation in December.
