Kim Go Eun, Choi Min Sik, Lee Do Hyun starrer South Korean blockbuster Exhuma sets India release date on May 3, 2024

South Korea's box office blockbuster, Exhuma, arrives in Indian cinemas on May 3rd via Impact Films! This chilling tale boasts a star-studded cast featuring the likes of Choi Min Sik, Kim Go Eun, Yoo Hae Jin, and Lee Do Hyun. Exhuma is directed by the acclaimed Jang Jae Hyun, known for his previous works Svaha: The Sixth Finger (2019) and The Priests (2015), both of which explored the realm of the paranormal.

The story follows a wealthy Korean family residing in Los Angeles who are plagued by a series of unsettling paranormal events. Desperate to protect their newborn child, they turn to a rising star in the world of shamanism – the young and talented duo of Hwa Rim and Bong Gil.

 

Upon arrival, Hwa Rim senses a dark presence – the shadow of an ancestor clinging to the family in a phenomenon known as a "Grave Calling." To appease this restless spirit and bring peace to the family, Hwa Rim embarks on a mission to exhume the ancestor's grave.

 

Joining forces with the experienced geomancer Sang Deok and the skilled mortician Yeong Geun, Hwa Rim delves into a dangerous quest. Their journey leads them to a remote village in Korea, where an unsettling discovery awaits – the ancestor's grave lies in a location shrouded in mystery. Unaware of the consequences, the team proceeds with the exhumation. But their actions trigger a terrifying chain of events, as they inadvertently unleash a malevolent force that was long buried beneath the earth.

 

Now faced with a vengeful spirit, Hwa Rim, Bong Gil, Sang Deok, and Yeong Geun find themselves in a desperate fight for their lives. They must combine their unique skills and harness their courage to confront the malevolent entity and restore peace for both the family and the tormented spirit.

 

Exhuma promises a thrilling cinematic experience that blends Korean folklore with modern horror elements. The film dominated the box office in South Korea, after being released on February 22, 2024. After dominating the box office for seven weekends, horror film Exhuma moved to second place in its eighth week. It brought in an additional $938,000, bringing its total domestic gross to $81.2 million.
