Kate Winslet recycles a 7-year old embellished gown to the Premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water

Celebrities seem to have an almost unlimited supply of stylish new clothing to wear since they have stylists at their side and high-end designers on fast dial. But on occasion, even celebrities on the A-list think their costumes are so great that they deserve another appearance. Another justification is that the fashion industry seems to be talking more and more about sustainability and ethical fashion. Many fashion designers and celebrities have endorsed the idea of prioritising necessity above want and avoiding overindulgence. Repeating wardrobe trends have become commonplace as a result of this. Additionally, royals like Kate Middleton and Princess Anne have worn similar outfits. The Princess of Wales wore an Alexander McQueen ensemble she debuted at the G7 Summit in 2021 again for Trooping the Colour in June. And now we see Kate Winslet wearing the same legendary dress at the Avatar: The Way of Water premiere.

Aside from her Oscar-worthy performances, we're utterly obsessed with Mare of Easttown star Kate Winslet for her ability to keep it real when it comes to all things aesthetic. The star donned a Badgley Mischka dress that she had previously worn seven years earlier as she walked the blue carpet at the world premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water in London on Tuesday. The dress has a column skirt with a thin train and a halter neckline with shimmering silver flower embellishments cascading down the sides. For the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her film The Dressmaker in 2015, Winslet wore the exact same dress. She created the look both times with a swept-back updo, minimal makeup, and diamond drop earrings.

 

 

In September 2020, Winslet told Vanity Fair that she finds promoting movies on the red carpet stressful and hinted that she’d be repeating dresses in the future. “The dresses, the stress, the dress fittings … It’s so stressful, and I know that sounds like, ‘Oh, here goes Kate Winslet talking about how stressful it is to do dress fittings for award shows.’ But it is stressful,” the Titanic star said.
