The makers of Joker: Folie à Deux have confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel will have an exclusive theatrical release, hitting cinemas and IMAX screens on October 4, 2024. This decision underscores the film's commitment to delivering an immersive cinematic experience.

 

Director Todd Phillips and the production team have chosen to focus on a traditional theatrical release to fully capture the film's visual and auditory elements, promising audiences a unique and engaging experience on the big screen. The sequel, which continues the dark and gripping narrative of its predecessor, is expected to generate significant buzz and anticipation as the release date approaches.

 

The original Joker was a big success, both critically and commercially. It was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, with Joaquin Phoenix winning Best Actor and Hildur Guðnadóttir winning Original Score. It became the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. Phoenix returns as the Joker in the sequel, while Lady Gaga plays Harley Quinn. The film is expected to largely take place in Arkham Asylum.
