Henry Cavill's The Witcher debuts first teaser for season 3 to be split into 2 parts

Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for the upcoming third season of The Witcher. The streaming giant has also revealed that Henry Cavill’s final outing in the series will debut in two parts titled Volume 1 and Volume 2. As revealed in the teaser trailer, the initial five episodes will premiere on the streaming platform on June 29, followed by the remaining three episodes, which will be available a month later July 27.

"Now, for the first time, I understand real fear," Cavill's Geralt says in the teaser. Last year, Cavill made the surprise announcement that he will walk away from The Witcher. Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games) has been roped in to take over the Geralt role.

 

Besides Cavill, others joining the final season are Joey Batey (Jaskier), Myanna Buring (Tissaia), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Mimî M Khayisa (Fringilla), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), Mecia Simson (Francesca), Tom Canton (Filavandrel), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Graham McTavish (Dijkstra), Cassie Clare (Philippa) and Hugh Skinner (Radovid).

 

Additional cast includes Wilson Mbomio (Dara), Lars Mikkelsen (Stregobor), Terence Maynard (Artorius), Simon Callow (Codringher), Liz Carr (Fenn), Therica Wilson-Read (Sabrina), Safiyya Ingar (Keira), Rochelle Rose (Margarita), Michalina Olszanska) (Marti), Robbie Amell (Gallatin), Jeremy Crawford (Yarpen), Bart Edwards (Emhyr), Aisha Fabienne Ross (Lydia), Christelle Elwin (Mistle), and Meng'er Zhang (Milva).

 

Cavill announced his departure from the show in October 2022 saying, “As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men,” Cavill wrote in a statement at the time. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich previously told Entertainment Weekly that season 3 is perceived as a farewell for Cavill's character.

 

"Geralt's big turn is about giving up neutrality and doing anything that he has to do to get to Ciri. And to me, it's the most heroic sendoff that we could have, even though it wasn't written to be that," she said. "Geralt has a new mission in mind when we come back to him in season 4. He's a slightly different Geralt than we expected. Now, by the way, that's an understatement."

 

The first part of Season 3 will be released in June, with part two following in July. Watch the teaser trailer below!
