Dune: Part Two starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya delayed to 2024 amid WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood
The highly anticipated Dune: Part Two starring Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya have been officially delayed. Amid the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in Hollywood, Warner Bros. officially announced that the movie is delayed now and will be released in 2024. The film will hit the theatres on March 15, 2024. As a part of the delay, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire — which was previously scheduled for a March 14 release — will hit the big screen a month later on April 12.
According to Variety, “The Dune delay comes as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue to drag on. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, actors may not do press for any struck films, which would have meant the star-studded Dune cast would not have been on the press circuit for the big-budget film.”
Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavours to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Léa Seydoux, with Stellan Skarsgård, with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
Denis Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Josh Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
