Welcome To The Jungle trailer launch: Akshay Kumar shares a golden advice: "NEVER retire…a person should retire just 5 seconds before his/her death"
Akshay Kumar, Jackie Shroff, Arshad Warsi, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Tusshar Kapoor, Yashpal Sharma, Johny Lever, Aftab Shivdasani, Shreyas Talpade, Rajpal Yadav, Krushna Abhishek, Puneet Issar, dialogue writer Farhad Samji, director Ahmed Khan, producer Ajit Andhare and co-producer Shaira Ahmed Khan attended the trailer launch of Welcome To The Jungle at a studio in Mumbai.
Akshay Kumar has been working for nearly 36 years and a journalist asked if he ever thinks of retiring, given his long, illustrious career. Akshay Kumar confessed, “Beta, yeh hota hai. Subah 4 baje hota hai. But within 5 seconds, I remember that I need to go for a film shoot. Then I also remember that 300 people are waiting for me on the set. Then I decide to think about retirement the next morning. Fir subah 4 baje uthta hoon aur yehi process repeat hota hai. Aise karte karte 36 saal guzar gaye.”
He added, “If I retire, mujhe ghar pe baithe baithe electrician ka kaam mil jaayega! I’ll become a dog walker or gardener. Ghar ke saare kaam kaaj mujhe milenge. I’d rather go to work and not retire.”
The journalist asked whether he misses spending time with his family members in his free time. Akshay raised laughs as he said, “I did try. But after just one day, they gave up and said, ‘Pitaji, aap kab jaaoge kaam karne?’!”
He continued, “It's better to keep working. I have reservations with the word ‘retire’. A person should retire just 5 seconds before his/her death. Before death, a person should say, ‘Bhai ab main retire ho raha hoon’! That would be better. Never opt for retirement. If you want a long life, continue working.” There was a huge applause over this statement from the attendees.
Welcome To The Jungle releases in cinemas on June 26.
