Bollywood actress Soha Ali Khan, accompanied by husband Kunal Kemmu and their daughter Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, recently visited the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground during their holiday in Australia. The family's presence at the historic venue stirred emotions as Soha reminisced about her father, the legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and his remarkable innings on the hallowed turf.
Soha Ali Khan took to her Instagram to share the special moment, providing insight into the sentimental value the Melbourne Cricket Ground holds for her family. In her post, she recalled her father's exceptional innings at the MCG during the 1967-68 series. She wrote, “It seemed only fitting to remember and celebrate Abba on his birthday today by visiting one of his favourite places to play - The Melbourne Cricket Ground. He scored many test hundreds but many consider his finest innings, as good as any century, to be the 75 at the MCG in 1967-68. India was 25 for 5 when he came in to bat and he needed a runner because of a pulled hamstring - he couldn’t play his usual front-foot shots and hooked his way up to India totalling 162… his 75 that day made it to No. 14 in Wisden Asia Cricket’s list of the top 25 Indian test innings - “An innings played with one leg and one eye”. Happy birthday Abba.”
As Soha, Kunal, and Inaaya walked the historic grounds, their visit became a poignant homage to the cricketing legend. The MCG, witnessing another chapter of the Pataudi legacy, resonated with memories of a remarkable innings played by a true icon of Indian cricket.
