Singer Divya Kumar claims he was replaced by Diljit Dosanjh in The Ba***ds of Bollywood; says, “They offered me an insane amount of money to compensate”

Singer Divya Kumar recently opened up about a behind-the-scenes development in the web series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, stating that he was originally chosen to sing the song 'Tainu Ki Pata' but was later replaced by Diljit Dosanjh. According to the singer, the production unit led by Shah Rukh Khan’s company made him a compensation offer, which he declined on principle.

In an interview with Digital Commentary, Kumar recalled, “I had received a great opportunity from Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. It was for Aryan Khan’s (The) Ba***ds of Bollywood.”

 

He added, “I had originally sung ‘Tainu Ki Pata’, but later they replaced it with Diljit Dosanjh’s voice. They offered me an insane amount of money to compensate, but I refused to take it. I rejected the money because it was Shah Rukh Khan’s company. I had tears in my eyes when I was sitting in his office.”

 

Kumar further revealed the emotional basis for his decision, “It was SRK who made me. I was inspired by him. Every time I was rejected from a show or competition, he said he would go outside Mannat and cry his heart out every time he faced a rejection in life. He gave me the strength to move forward.”

 

The Ba***ds of Bollywood is the directorial‐and‐co‐written debut for Aryan Khan, produced by Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.  While the single 'Tainu Ki Pata' ultimately featured Diljit Dosanjh’s vocals, Divya Kumar’s version remains unreleased, and his decision to decline compensation has drawn attention to the dynamics of credit and compensation in the music industry.

 

Kumar’s standpoint appears rooted in respect for Shah Rukh Khan and gratitude toward the platform he associates with the superstar’s brand, suggesting that monetary recompense was insufficient given his emotional connection to the opportunity.
