Saira Banu shares emotional tribute on Dilip Kumar’s 4th death anniversary: “The absence of sahib can never be filled”

On the occasion of legendary actor Dilip Kumar's fourth death anniversary, his wife and veteran actress Saira Banu penned a heartfelt note, expressing the enduring connection she still feels with him.

Referring to Dilip Kumar as a “guiding star for generations,” Saira Banu described her late husband as far more than just a cinematic legend. She emphasized how he left a lasting impression not only on the general public but also on prominent political figures like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and Narasimha Rao. For the caption, she wrote, “The absence of Sahib is something that can never be filled… yet, I remain with him—united in thought, mind, and spirit. In this life and beyond, my soul has learned to walk beside him even when he’s not here. Every year, this day finds me holding Sahib’s memories gently, like fragile blossoms. His admirers, well-wishers, friends, and family never forget him.”

 

She added, “Their messages of love and remembrance come like prayers, wrapped in warmth. I read each one with a heart full of gratitude, knowing that the world still cherishes the man Sahib was and will always be.”

 

The veteran actress further shared, “You see, Sahib wasn’t just the greatest joy of my life — he was an entire era. An inspiration spanning six generations of actors and a guiding star for many more to come. He was a cherished companion to great statesmen like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Sahab, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sahab, and Narasimha Rao Sahab. Among his closest friends were some of the sharpest minds — lawyers, economists, and industrialists — yet he never lost his deep connection with the common man’s soul.”

 

“He loved sports, playing cricket and football as if he were born on the field, and often said, ‘If not destiny, I would have been a national-level sportsman.’ But destiny had other plans, gifting the world the greatest actor of all time instead. Behind the legendary icon was a gentle, charming, and witty man.”

 

Sharing a glimpse of his playful and gentle side, Saira recalled an evening when Dilip Sahib quietly left a gathering at home, leaving behind a sweet, heartfelt note: “Feeling sleepy, what do you suggest, Aunty?... Yours 100%.” She said that it’s in these simple, everyday moments that his love, humour, and unforgettable presence continue to live on.

 

Saira Banu concluded her note with, “He made ordinary moments eternal. Through every joke, every note, every glance, he left behind something rare: a love that lingers. Dilip Sahib is forever—beyond time, beyond life. May Allah continue to keep him wrapped in His noor and mercy. Aameen.”

 

Dilip Kumar, famously known as the 'Tragedy King' of Hindi cinema, passed away on July 7, 2021.
