Priyadarshan recalls being told Ekta Kapoor was difficult to work with, says his experience was different

Bhooth Bangla has already generated considerable curiosity among audiences, as it marks the reunion of Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan after 14 years. The duo has previously delivered several popular comedies in Hindi cinema, and the upcoming film is expected to bring back their signature blend of humour and entertainment.

 

Priyadarshan recalls being told Ekta Kapoor was difficult to work with, says his experience was different

 

The film is backed by Balaji Motion Pictures, the film division of Balaji Telefilms, headed by Ekta Kapoor. Speaking about the collaboration, Priyadarshan shared that he had heard mixed opinions about working with Kapoor but his personal experience turned out to be quite different.

 

“That is one thing I just have to tell you. When I went to do the film with Ektaa, a lot of people told me that she is a difficult woman to work with. But I never found I think there is a whole thing I Maybe I am lucky. I have to tell you this: She is the first producer in my life who never asked me, ‘What are you doing?’ and gave me complete liberty to create,” he said.

 

The director further reflected on his long career and how most producers tend to get involved in the creative process.

 

“First producer in the 98 films I have made, every producer asks, ‘Can we do this?’ or ‘Can we change that?’ So I was quite shocked when people said it is difficult to work with her. But I am it's is An absolute truth that I found its so easy to work with her.”

 

The makers recently unveiled the teaser of the film, which received an enthusiastic response online. Many viewers appreciated the return of the comic style associated with Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar, along with the film’s mix of humour and supernatural elements.

 

Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films, Bhooth Bangla stars Akshay Kumar, Wamiqa Gabbi, Paresh Rawal, Tabu and Rajpal Yadav. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor, and is scheduled to release in theatres on April 10, 2026.
