Neena Gupta addresses her “Faltu feminism” remark; says, “Only used that chunk to create controversy”

Veteran actress Neena Gupta is currently seen in Amazon Prime Video’s latest film, Mast Mein Rehne Ka. Gupta has received a positive response from the critics for her performance in the OTT film. However, a few days ago, she sparked a debate online with her “Faltu feminism” remark. Recently, the actress addressed it and stated that only a chunk was used to create a controversy.

In an interaction with Indian Express, the 64-year-old actress said, “What they did is that they only used that chunk from the whole interview for promotions, to create a controversy. It said that I don’t believe in ‘faltu feminism’, and after that people are fighting amongst each other.”

The Vadh actress further added, “If one person is cursing me for saying that, someone else says, ‘What do you know? Watch the whole interview.’ There should be a reference to what I said.”

For the unversed, during her appearance on popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Gupta had said, “I want to say that it’s not necessary to believe in faltu feminism or the idea that women are equal to men.”

Speaking of her professional front, as mentioned above, her latest release is Mast Mein Rehne Ka. The Vijay Maurya directorial also stars Jackie Shroff and Abhishek Chauhan. The official synopsis of the Prime Video film reads, “A man chooses an old widower's home for his first robbery, kicking off a set of events that have them both look at life in a new way and with new companions in the starkness of the city of Mumbai.”

Besides this, Neena also has a bunch of interesting projects in her kitty, including Anurag Basu’s next directorial venture, Metro Inn Dino.
