Manoj Bajpayee says Hindi filmmakers are scared of south films’ success; opens up on what Bollywood is lacking

Actor Manoj Bajpayee is the latest Bollywood personality to acknowledge the impact of the success of films from the south industries on the Hindi film industry. The actor recently said  in an interview that the success of films such as KGF: Chapter 2, RRR, and Pushpa: The Rise had "shivered the spines" of Bollywood filmmakers. In addition, the actor explained what sets these films apart from their Hindi equivalents.

Manoj went on to explain why a Hindi-dubbed KGF 2 or RRR can gross over Rs. 300 crores in India, whereas high-budget Hindi films like Sooryavanshi struggle to gross even Rs. 200 crores. The actor said that the success of these films is a lesson for Bollywood that they must learn quickly. "They are unabashedly passionate, and they treat every shot as if it were the best photo in the world. They shoot a film exactly as they envision it; they do not dumb it down for the audience because they cherish their audience and their zeal is unrivaled,” he said to Delhi Times.

 

 

 

“When you look at Pushpa, RRR, or KGF, the creation process is flawless. Each frame is photographed as though it were a life-or-death situation. This is exactly what we are lacking. We started thinking about significant films simply in terms of financial feasibility and box office receipts. We are unable to criticize ourselves. As a result, we call them 'alag' (different). This, however, is a lesson. This is a master class in mainstream filmmaking for Mumbai's mainstream filmmakers,” he added.

 

Manoj's was most recently seen in ZEE5's Dial 100 and Amazon Prime Video's The Family Man, both of which aired last year. Manoj is now working on two feature films, Despatch and Gulmohar.
