First trailer of Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer unveils Cillian Murphy as father of Atomic Bomb in explosive biopic

The first trailer of Oppenheimer is here and it looks explosive. Cillian Murphy dons the role of father of the atomic bomb during the Second World War, who later found his loyalty to the United States questioned by hawkish government officials.

The first official trailer sees black-and-white shots of Murphy's J. Robert Oppenheimer and fiery colored glimpses. The live video also started the countdown to the movies release.

 

 

 

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Oppenheimer is based on the 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winning book “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer” by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin. Universal won a bidding war for the project, Nolan’s first movie in years not made with his longtime studio home, Warner Bros.

 

 

 

The star-studded cast also includes Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich and David Krumholtz.

 

Universal has set the theatrical release date of July 21, 2023.
