Filmmaker Jay Patel shines light on social cause for women empowerment

Former US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton was recently spotted in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, who participated in a two-day program of the Self Empowered Women’s Association (SEWA). Ms. Clinton also paid tribute to Ela Bhatt; a social worker, Gandhian and the founder of SEWA. Sadly Ms. Bhatt passed away in November last year.

Ela, Ramesh Bhatt was an activist, and Gandhian and founded SEWA in 1972. She was a lawyer by training and also served as the chancellor of the Gujarat Vidhyapath. Miss Bhatt was a part of many movements has won several national and international awards to her laurels. Ela Bhatt was a lawyer by training and a philanthropist by passion. Also paying his respect & tribute to the 50 years completion of SEWA was Mr. Patel who is a producer and an entrepreneur. He is an Indian American also coincidentally resides in New York as does MS. Hillary Clinton.

 

Mr. Patel and Ms. Clinton had a common objective which was to pay homage to Ms. Bhatt. They both are very passionate about the SEWA foundation and have a common belief that the women are the architects of the society & an independent and employed or self-employed woman will impart the wisdom and keenness amongst the youth to follow their passion and look at the world more open-mindedly. Although Ms. Clinton and Mr. Patel come from different backgrounds culturally & professionally; Mr. Patel is a movie producer while Ms. Clinton is an American politician & a diplomat; it was refreshing to see that they both ardently believe in this initiative.

 

Sharing the similar belief that very few people in this world have achieved, inspired, and etched an impression. Ms. Bhatt’s vision should and needs to be communicated to everyone across the nation and the world.
