EXCLUSIVE: “To get validation from whom I consider the best is bigger than any award,” - Abhishek Bachchan on getting appreciated by Amitabh Bachchan

When asked if he has received notes from his father Amitabh Bachchan for his work, Abhishek said, “For somebody like me who is not only his son, but also a huge fan and an admirer or the enormous talent that he is, to get validation from whom I consider the best is bigger than any award. The letters he has written to me is more paternal than anything else and I value that a lot more. Because if he feels I have done good job he will say well done. I mean that ‘well done’ is enough. I am lucky enough that I get to live under the same roof as him. What I really enjoy is every time I show him a film of mine or a work of mine, the first thing would be his observations of how I could improve and that is far more invaluable than praise from him. He has something to say about every performance of mine and how I could have improved it. I think that it is God sent. At the risk of sounding immodest, how many people have on-hand, live advice from Amitabh Bachchan every time they do a job? Even if it is bad, he is basically telling you how to improve or how he thinks you could have done better.”

“The one film he liked very much was Guru. He became very emotional after that. That was the greatest moment in my life apart from the birth of my daughter was his reaction and blessing he gave me after he saw Guru. I mean as an actor. All us actors have actors we admire and to get some recognition or notice from the actor you admire is a very big thing,” he added.

Abhishek Bachchan was last seen in the recently released film Ludo. The film directed by Anurag Basu is currently streaming on Netflix.
