EXCLUSIVE: Rajkumar Hirani thanks Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for allowing PK shoot at Bengaluru ashram; reveals he expected a refusal

Earlier in the day, Bollywood Hungama exclusively reported that several prominent Bollywood celebrities visited Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Bengaluru ashram as part of his 70th birthday celebrations and the 45th anniversary of The Art of Living Foundation. We also shared an exclusive picture in which Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was seen posing with Sajid Nadiadwala, Rajkumar Hirani, Sunil Grover, Vikrant Massey, Montoo Bassi (the director of White, which stars Vikrant as Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar), ace photographer Avinash Gowariker, Viineet Kumar Siingh. Also present at the gathering were Mahaveer Jain, Balasaheb Darade and Divyansh Jain (producers at Mahaveer Jain Films), Manjeet Rajkumar Hirani, Neetu Mahaveer Jain and Ajanta Pharma founder Madhusudhan Agarwal. Bollywood Hungama has now come across an interesting piece of information from the conversation that took place between Rajkumar Hirani and Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar during the meeting.

Rajkumar Hirani revealed, “Me and my wife practise Sudarshan Kriya and Sahaj Meditation, which we learned from Gurudev. It has significantly improved our overall health. Also, I had approached Gurudev during the shoot of PK (2014) and requested him to allow the film to be shot at his Bengaluru centre, especially the scenes of the ashram and huge crowds.”

 

Rajkumar Hirani confessed, “I was quite certain Gurudev would decline the request. Nevertheless, I still went ahead and asked him for permission. But to my surprise, Gurudev instantly gave his consent and allowed me and my team to shoot at The Art of Living Foundation premises.”

 

 

He added, “Gurudev was also impressed with the story of the film, as it exposed fake godmen. I was deeply touched by Gurudev’s generosity and, during this meeting, I thanked him once again for his support.”

 

PK starred Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, the late Sushant Singh Rajput, Sanjay Dutt and Saurabh Shukla, who played a godman in the film. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, the film told the story of an alien stranded on Earth.
