EXCLUSIVE: “Besharam Rang writer Kumaar is a genius”, explains composers Vishal-Sheykhar; watch

It’s been two weeks since Pathaan was released in theatres, and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer is still performing well at the box office. Besides being an action thriller, the film bagged numerous headlines for its song ‘Besharam Rang’. While speaking about the song with Bollywood Hungama, music-composers Vishal Dadlani and Sheykhar Ravjiani opened up about various aspects of it. Amid this, Vishal-Sheykhar also gave a shout-out to lyricist Kumaar for making a beautifully poetic song while calling him a genius.

It all happened when we asked the duo to shed some light on the journey of reaching the title of the song, ‘Besharam Rang’. While giving the credit to Kumaar, Vishal asserted, “Kumaar is the only lyricist in this business, who doesn’t write. Woh aap ko bolte hai mai jo bol raha hu likho. Aur agar woh aapney nahi likha samay par, toh woh gaya (He asks others to write, and if, by any chance, you miss it, it’s gone).”

 

Upon this, Sheykhar added, “He is genuinely the most spontaneous and natural lyricist. Sometimes he says something and leaves the room. Then, we look at each other and ask does he even know what he just wrote.” When mentioned that Kumaar is a humble person, Vishal immediately said, “He has to be humble because he doesn’t know how he does it. If someone does it with a thought process, they are a genius.  But someone like him is a wanderer.”

 

 

Sheykhar concluded the conversation by adding, “He is connected to the higher force and he is totally spiritual.”

 

Speaking of the song, ‘Besharam Rang’, sung by Shilpa Rao and choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, the Deepika Padukone song is shot in Spain.
