Dunki Diaries: When Shah Rukh Khan mistook real prisoners for fans during the shoot
Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki is all set to release this week and the excitement for the film keeps on increasing. The fact that this is the first time the celebrated filmmaker is working with Shah Rukh Khan has added onto the anticipation. The film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, among others.
The makers of Dunki have come up with a special video called Dunki Diaries for the fans where Hirani, SRK and Taapsee are looking back at the memories of shooting the film through the use of photographs.
During the course of the discussion when they come across the photo of a real jail in a foreign country, Hirani recalled shooting a scene over there. He said, “Whenever I used to watch English films, I used to feel that their jails are very different from ours. We had clearly shown jails in Sanju. I used to feel one day I should shoot in a foreign jail. And that dream came true (laughs). It was a real jail. There were prisoners also. During the lunch time, they were playing table tennis. We had to halt the shooting for some time. You can’t disturb them.”
Shah Rukh added, “They were dangerous criminals; not the easy ones.” Taapsee recalled, “Where our base was, from that building, they used to open the windows and shout.” Much to everyone’s amusement, SRK added, “I initially felt they were fans since they were shouting (laughs).”
Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, Dunki is all set to release in theatres on December 21.
