Babil Khan says boys his age wouldn’t understand him growing up; shares thoughts on getting “female attention”

Babil Khan, the son of late actor Irrfan Khan, has opened up about his experience with female attention growing up. In an interview with Indianexpress.com, Khan said that he would often get a lot of attention from girls because he was a sensitive guy. He said that boys his age would be reluctant to be friends with him because of this, and would tell him to "just play football" and not talk about his feelings.

Khan said, “So because of that, I became friends with girls. But then the boys started getting jealous! I am like, you guys first abandoned me, so what do you want? I would get bullied a lot back then.”

Sharing his thoughts further, Babil explained, “I have also never been the guy who goes out there to ‘get’ women. This whole idea of ‘getting’ women–as boys generally say–is absurdly wrong. If you talk like that, subconsciously it starts playing a role in how you think about women.”

He elaborated, “ You don’t ‘get’ women, you partner with them, and not necessarily and only in a romantic way. Maybe this is why I was closer to women… I am a Mumma’s boy. I hope she is proud of me. I hope I am doing enough for her.”

Khan's latest release, Friday Night Plan, is a coming-of-age story, streaming on Netflix. In the trailer of the film, Khan's character is seen scoring a goal in a football match and becoming the centre of attention of the entire school.
