Ayushmann Khurrana dreams of portraying Sourav Ganguly’s biopic; says, “Doing a film on cricket is a part of my bucket-list”

Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has revealed his deep-rooted connection with cricket and expressed his desire to take on a cricket-themed project soon. During the ongoing World Cup, Ayushmann showcased his extensive knowledge and keen observations on cricket, engaging with fans globally and highlighting his fervent interest in the sport.

Notably, Ayushmann disclosed that he was an under-19 district-level cricketer in Punjab, emphasizing his personal connection with the game. His active involvement in cricket discussions during the World Cup has sparked curiosity among fans, leading to the revelation of his aspirations to feature in a cricket-themed film.

 

In a recent statement, Ayushmann Khurrana shared, “Doing a film on cricket is a part of my bucket-list and I hope it gets fulfilled soon! I think my cricket skills will come real handy whenever such a film happens.” This statement has fuelled long-standing rumours about Ayushmann portraying the legendary Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in an upcoming biopic.

 

The speculation surrounding Ayushmann's potential role as Sourav Ganguly in a biographical film has been a topic of discussion in the industry, and his recent comments only add to the anticipation. Fans are eagerly awaiting an official announcement regarding this exciting project, which is expected to captivate the nation's attention.

 

On the film front, Ayushmann was recently seen in Dream Girl 2, a film directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor. The movie starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday in leading roles, with a supporting cast that included Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani, Seema Pahwa, Vijay Raaz, Manjot Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Ranjan Raj, Manoj Joshi, and Annu Kapoor. Dream Girl 2 hit theatres on August 25, 2023. Ayushmann has reportedly also signed Border 2 which is also said to star Sunny Deol and Ahan Shetty in pivotal roles but there hasn’t been an official confirmation on the same.
