Akshay Kumar pens heartfelt message for niece Simar Bhatia as she makes her debut in Ikkis with Agastya Nanda
Akshay Kumar took to social media to express his joy and pride as his niece, Simar Bhatia, makes her Bollywood debut with Ikkis, an upcoming war drama directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan. The trailer of the much-anticipated film was unveiled in theatres alongside the releases of Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, followed by its digital premiere on October 29.
Akshay Kumar pens heartfelt message for niece Simar Bhatia as she makes her debut in Ikkis with Agastya Nanda
The actor, who came across the trailer on social media, couldn’t hold back his emotions and shared it on his Instagram story with a heartfelt message for Simar and the film’s lead actor, Agastya Nanda. “My little Simi's not so little anymore... from your living room performances to the big screen in #Ikkis, heart bursting with pride! @simarbhatia18. And Agastya, what screen presence! Wishing the whole team huge success,” wrote Akshay, cheering both the young debutants on their big-screen journey.
The film marks a special milestone not only for Simar but also for Agastya Nanda — the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan and son of Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda — who is stepping into theatres for the first time after his OTT debut in The Archies. Following the trailer’s release, several celebrities, including members of the Bachchan family, took to social media to shower their love and best wishes on the newcomers.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Ikkis tells the inspiring untold story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. At just 21 years old, Khetarpal displayed unparalleled courage and selflessness during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, earning a place among India’s greatest heroes.
The film features a stellar ensemble cast including Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Deepak Dobriyal, Rahul Dev, and Sikandar Kher in pivotal roles. With Raghavan at the helm, Ikkis is expected to deliver a deeply emotional and patriotic cinematic experience, blending realism with the filmmaker’s signature storytelling finesse.
Set for a December 2025 release, Ikkis promises to be a powerful tribute to youthful heroism, sacrifice, and honour — and with the launch of two promising talents, Simar Bhatia and Agastya Nanda, it’s a film that’s already capturing hearts across generations.
