Aamir Khan, Sooraj Barjatya and Rajkumar Hirani are the greatest role models of simplicity, says producer Mahaveer Jain

Q: What had drawn you to be a part of the film industry in the first place?

 

MJ: I have always been fascinated with the impact of storytelling. When a great story is told well, it has the power to leave an imprint on the hearts and minds forever, there is something… which changes within. When I realised this, I knew my calling.Aamir Khan, Sooraj Barjatya and Rajkumar Hirani are the greatest role models of simplicity, says producer Mahaveer Jain

 

 

Q: Who is your inspiration in the industry?

 

MJ: I am deeply inspired by Aamir Khan, Sooraj Barjatya and Rajkumar Hirani. They are exceptional human beings.

 

There is a saying - the most successful is the most simple - these stalwarts are the greatest role models of simplicity. They are far away from the glitz and glamour of the film industry, extremely sensitive and compassionate, living a meaningful life with profound thoughts.

 

Well actually, I can write a book on their humanistic qualities!

 

Q: This year, you have four releases.

 

Jointly producing films like Ram Setu with Akshay Kumar, Uunchai with Sooraj R Barjatya, Good Luck Jerry with Aanand L Rai and a special feature Mann Bairagi with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

 

Seems like you love collaborations?

 

MJ:  Ji bilkul! l am all for collaborations. I love and admire them. Each one is unique and a creative genius in their own right.

 

I must say, Sanjay Sir, Sooraj Ji, Aanand Ji and Akshay Bhai are all very emotional people. They have got a heart of gold! I feel fortunate to be a part of their journey.

 

Q: Is there any practice in the industry you have witnessed and wish to change?

 

MJ: Firstly, we must give writers their due recognition and respect. The writers and directors are the real heroes! It’s just as important to remember that the entire crew also matters.

 

I also believe that we should try and change the definition of success, it should not be limited to commercial gains only, but success should also be associated with the positive impact we create with our work, the joy we spread with our work. We should be a little more thoughtful about setting the right trends.

 

Also, as an Industry, we should shift our focus from competition to contribution, and believe me, we can witness the ‘Magic’ with this one change itself.

 

Q: Whom do you find to be a strong force in the business aspect of entertainment?

 

MJ: There are many dynamic thought leaders today who are impacting the industry in a very positive way. Jyoti Deshpande is one such strong force. She has a vision to take the entertainment industry’s growth to the next level. She is definitely far sighted.

 

Talking about production houses, Dinesh Vijan’s company is one of the fastest growing right now.

 

 

Q: What do you think about Industry’s leading producers?

 

MJ: They are all amazing people and I have learnt a lot from them. Like Sajid Nadiadwala is a large-hearted man and I love his persona. Multi-talented Karan Johar has got outstanding interpersonal skills and I share an emotional bond with him. Bhushan Kumar has an extraordinary never say die spirit which, I really appreciate. Nitesh Tiwari & Ashwiny Iyer are very humble & rooted.

 

Q: What are your views about the young stars in the industry?

 

MJ: I am very elated seeing these young stars and by stars I don’t just mean actors, but the young directors, technicians and professionals as well. Most of them have commendable passion, discipline and respect.

 

Also, It’s a great time for new talent to come up, and we must make wholehearted efforts to help them flourish here.

 

Q: In the current times, what is the one thing, you feel is the need of the hour?

 

MJ: Mental health is something we all need to address sensitively. This is of utmost concern in the present times. Besides, it's not easily interpretable and people take time to realize and are reluctant to express.

 

Personally I feel breathing exercises, meditation, medical help etc. are some important ways to battle it but being a part of the creative fraternity, we can play a substantial role to spread hope, happiness and positivity through our content and help people reduce their stress.

 

This will be our significant contribution to the humanity. Let’s make this count.
