36 Years of Parinda: Anil Kapoor gets nostalgic, calls the film ‘timeless’

Anil Kapoor has marked the 36-year milestone of his landmark crime drama Parinda (1989), declaring that the film “still beats with the same heart”. The actor took to social media to reflect on the enduring legacy of the movie, which remains widely regarded as one of Bollywood’s most powerful works.

Kapoor wrote, “When we made Parinda, we said, ‘Aisi film banani hai ki humare bachche nahi, unke bachche bhi dekhein aur bolein, kya film banayi hai’. 36 years later, Parinda still stands tall. Time has passed, but the film… it still beats with the same heart. And hopefully, Vayu will be watching it very soon. #36YearsOfParinda.”

 

 

 

Directed and co-written by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Parinda featured Kapoor alongside Jackie Shroff, Madhuri Dixit and Nana Patekar, and is set in the underworld of Mumbai, chronicling the lives of two brothers torn between crime and conscience. The film broke new ground in its narrative, grit and visual tone, and left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

 

On the professional front, Anil is gearing up for the release of his upcoming action-drama Subedaar, where he essays the role of a soldier turned civilian. The announcement of the film’s shoot and his look from the project were recently revealed by the makers.
