After much talk and hype we finally see the release of the Rohit Shetty directorial Sooryavanshi. Starring Ashay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead, the film also features Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn in special appearances. Being one of the most keenly anticipated releases as well as the first big ticket Bollywood blockbuster to release on the big screen after theatres re-opened, expectations have been at an all-time high.

Interestingly, despite Covid-19 restrictions limiting occupancy in key markets like Maharashtra, which usually amount to approximately 20% of a film’s business, Sooryavanshi has managed to surpass previous releases like Roohi that collected Rs. 3.06 cr, Mumbai Saga that collected Rs. 2.82 cr, Bellbottom that collected Rs. 2.75 cr, Chehre that collected Rs. 0.40 cr, and Thalaivii that had collected Rs. 0.32 cr.

 

Currently with the festive season of Diwali lighting up houses, trade experts predict that the business of Sooryavanshi is more than likely to grow over the coming weekend. In fact, with markets like Punjab lifting restrictions to allow 100% occupancy in theatres, the business of the film will see immense growth.
