The Kashmir Files Box Office Collections: Vivek Agnihotri directorial becomes the 2nd highest opening weekend grosser of 2022

The Vivek Agnihotri directorial The Kashmir Files that was released on Friday opened to a surprising response from the audience. The film which made headlines in the run-up to its release opened on a better than expected note collecting Rs. 3.55 cr on its opening day. If that wasn’t enough, the positive feedback the film has received propelled its business even further on its second and third day running.

In this box office report, we take a look at the opening weekend collections of The Kashmir Files while comparing the same to previous releases of 2022. Collecting Rs. 27.15 cr, The Kashmir Files has managed to become the second-highest opening weekend grosser of the year. While the film has outperformed the Rajkummar Rao – Bhumi Pednekar starrer Badhaai Do that collected Rs. 7.82 cr and the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Jhund that collected Rs. 5.58 cr, it does not surpass the collections of the Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi that had collected Rs. 39.12 cr.

 

Interestingly, The Kashmir Files has been seeing an increase in footfalls in theatres, with advance booking revealing a very positive trend. In fact, the film which initially saw a limited release across 650 screens has now seen an increase in screens and shows with 2000 screens and shows starting from 6.30 AM in certain locations. Given this current trend and the immense growth, the business has been seeing trade expectations predict that The Kashmir Files could easily become one of the highest grossers of 2022 if the current positive trend continues.
