'DEV' GETS A COLD RECEPTION

 

Hindi films that depict stark realities seldom find many takers in U.K. and U.S.A. In fact, well made love stories and family dramas find wholehearted approval from the paying public in these two countries. The latest release, DEV, also failed to attract the attention of cinegoers there.

In the U.S., this Govind Nihalani-directed flick collected $ 84,728 on 35 screens [approx. Rs. 38.34 lacs] in its opening weekend. The per screen average is $ 2,420.

 

In U.K. too, DEV didn't impress much either. The film collected £ 40,509 on 25 screens [approx. Rs. 33.62 lacs] in its opening weekend. The per screen average is £ 1,620. The collections as well as per screen average are lower than that of HUM TUM, which is running in its third week.

 

HUM TUM continues its victorious march in both U.S.A. and U.K. In U.S.A., the Saif Ali Khan starrer has collected $ 97,312 on 35 screens in its third weekend, taking the total to $ 686,007 [approx. Rs. 3.10 crores]. In U.K. too, the film is holding on very well; it has collected £ 62,170 on 27 screens, taking its total to £ 446,177 [approx. Rs. 3.70 crores].
