The countdown has begun. The Diwali week is looked up to with great enthusiasm and everyone's confident that the three biggies [BLUE, ALL THE BEST and MAIN AURR MRS. KHANNA] should revive and rejuvenate the industry that has been ailing since the past few months.

Which film would I place my bets on? All three films. I hope, all three succeed in bringing audiences back to theatres in hordes. Thanks to the festive occasion and the three biggies in the fray, the business is expected to show a big, big jump in the coming week. The numbers should be really huge. Fingers crossed!
Last Friday's ACID FACTORY will make a big hole in the pockets of its distributors, Mumbai Mantra. The film fetched a poor start everywhere and didn't show any spurt in business during the weekend or on weekdays.
ACID FACTORY has decent merits, the promotion picked up during the release week, the face-value was interesting and to top it all, it was a solo release. However, like this writer pointed out in its review itself, the dull pre-Diwali phase can wreck film business hard and that's one of the prime reasons why ACID FACTORY suffered. Unpredictability is the name of the game!
While the three biggies battle it out this Friday, another clash that's sure to be talked-about will be LONDON DREAMS versus ALADIN [on October 30], followed by KURBAAN versus DE DANA DAN [on November 27].
People keep asking if these clashes could've been averted. No way. Thanks to the strike, a number of film-makers were left with no choice but to accept the dates allotted by the industry leaders, once the strike got over.
Now let's hope and pray that the big clash only translates into big cash at the ticket counters. In the meanwhile, here's wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali.
