Why T-Series relinquished the music rights of two films:

In an unprecedented move, Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. has relinquished the music rights of two of the most eagerly awaited films -- AKS and DIL CHAHTA HAI -- for certain reasons. The news spread like wild fire in an industry that is already going through a low phase, thanks to an alarming number of flops this year. "It's true that we have given up the rights," Mukesh Desai, C.E.O. of Super Cassettes Industries Ltd., told this writer. The reasons? "Actually, the boom in the music industry has led to the doom. There are no returns over the investment we make while acquiring a film. The music industry has indeed crashed. That's one of the reasons that forced us to give up the rights," he states. Incidentally, there was talk that music companies had decided to include a clause in the agreement that states that the company has the right to terminate the agreement if they found the music below expectations. "Not in our case definitely! We haven't included this clause at all," Desai adds.
